The Panther Program.
The BoM Operations role is part of the Digital Innovation department which aims to improve the global processes and systems for Product Development inside Ford. The main purpose of BoM Operations is to adapt, use and maintain the processes and tools that are used to manage the Bill of Material in every program.
The Panther program is the largest diesel endeavor at Ford in the last 20 years. Its goal is to develop the new generation of 2 litre turbo diesel engines in a wide range of powers (100 PS to 230 PS) for many of the current Ford vehicles on the market: Focus, Kuga, Mondeo, C-Max, Transit, Galaxy, S-Max and Ranger. The combination of customers and different configurations makes Panther an extremely complex program with multiple engine architectures, products and assembly plants all over the world. More than 1 million engines will be built every year from 2016!
Within this complex program, QR_ is able to provide great expertise and knowledge in the deployment of AVBoM for the first time in an engine program in Europe. The BoM Operations role ensures AVBoM is fully integrated into the engine development global process and will be the single point of contact for all the cross functional users of the tool, including program management, engineering, purchase, finance, manufacturing and CAD.
The BoM Operations analyst ensures the Bill of Material for such a big program is complete, accurate and stable and that all the consumers of this key data are receiving what they need when they need it.
