6,463 runners, 166 teams, 5.7km.
“Firmenlauf” is an annual run for business teams around Fühlinger See in Cologne and on 26th April, QR_ entered a team for the second year running. With 14 “Quick Runners_”– Crabergine (Paul Crabtree as an aubergine) and Banillsy (Adam Mills as a banana) amongst them, they received lots of attention whilst speeding to the finish line.
The charity run supports two organisations equally:
- Aktion Lichtblicke e.V. supports children, adolescents, and their families throughout North Rhine-Westphalia, who are financially in need. The charity is especially concerned with weak and disadvantaged in our society. https://lichtblicke.de/.
- CARE fights causes of poverty and social inequality to enable people to live a more dignified life. In war and disaster areas they help with drinkable water, food and shelter. After a disaster, they help communities to rebuild, provide access to education for children and create income opportunities for people living in deprived areas of the world. Their goal is to help the poorest of the poor, and in the long term, to help themselves. https://www.care.de/ueber-care/.
The ‘Firmenlauf’ itself donates € 1/ runner of the entrance fee but we decided to collect more funds to support these worthy causes. With the help of Crabergine and Banillsy we were able to involve many QRians in the great work that Firmenlauf is doing and raise an amazing further donation of £ 1,277.
Despite questionable weather conditions – sun, rain, storm, rainbows, more rain – we rounded off the event with a team BBQ and celebrated our triumph with burgers and beer.
A huge thanks goes to the events team, QSR, the runners, the costume wearers and the burger flippers who all worked together to pull off this event with a great outcome.
